“The Jan Jones Plan to Save the State”

For now I will call it “The Jan Jones Plan to Save the State.” During a discussion on “Face to Face” of the room tax proposal some gaming companies have bought into, Jones mentioned it was a first step toward solving a larger problem. But what about the larger problem? She answered: Some room tax from gamers, a small diversion of room tax from the convention authority and a doubling of the Modified Business Tax (it’s minuscule) to be tied to legislation dealing with public employee benefits. That last part is to get the ever-recalcitrant chamber folks onboard. It’s not a bad start, although the ex-mayor and current Harrah’s exec forgot to mention the gaming tax, which will be necessary. But at least she has ideas. Anyone else have a plan?
