The Clark County coroner's office has identified one man who died in the fiery head-on crash along Interstate 15 on Wednesday as 76-year-old Alley Hassen of Canada.

Hassen was driving a blue 2002 Ford pickup truck northbound on I-15 when the truck crashed head-on with a 1997 Infinity sedan that engulfed both vehicles in flames. He died from multiple injuries due to the crash, not from fire, the coroner's office said.

The Nevada Highway Patrol closed southbound I-15 about 3:40 a.m. Wednesday between St. Rose Parkway and Silverado Ranch Drive for five hours while they investigated why the white Infinity was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of the freeway at the time of the crash.

The 25-year-old Henderson man driving the Infinity has not been identified, the coroner's office said.

Both vehicles contained only drivers, said Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Kevin Honea.

Both men were pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical crews responding to the crash, Honea said.

The crash remains under investigation.
