Two banks robbed in short span of time

Officers asking for public’s help in identifying robbers

Police are searching for this man in connection with a bank robbery at 4:50 p.m. Monday, Sept. 29, 2008, in the area of Rancho and Craig in Las Vegas. Police said the man is 27 to 35 years old, 5-foot-10, 220 pounds, with a goatee and short-cropped hair.

Two men robbed separate banks within 10 minutes of each other on Monday, Metro Police said.

The first robbery occurred about 4:40 p.m. Monday when a man approached a teller in a bank at Rampart and Lake Mead boulevards and pulled a handgun, police said.

The man leaned over the counter, pointed the gun at the teller and demanded money, police said. The teller handed money to the man and he left the bank in an unknown direction, police said.

The man is described as wearing a white T-shirt with grayish colored print of what appeared to be a large skull with wings and feathers, a black and gray baseball cap and blue jeans, police said. He has a tattoo on his upper right arm.

About 4:50 p.m. Monday a man walked into a bank near Rancho Drive and Craig Road, police said.

He approached a teller and leaning on the counter told the teller in a soft voice to give him all the money in the drawer, police said.

The man took the money, shoved it down the front of his pants an left the bank in an unknown direction, police said.

The man was wearing an over-sized white T-shirt and blue jeans and has a goatee and short cropped hair, police said.

Metro detectives are asking the public's help in identifying these suspects. Anyone with information is asked to call the Metro Police robbery section at 828-3591 or, to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 385-5555. A cash reward may be available to the person providing information which leads to the arrest and convictions of these suspects.
