Probe continues into alleged U.S. 93 DUI crash

Crash Location

A 21-year-old man is being held in the Henderson Detention Center after a three-car crash last week that injured him and two other motorists.

Bruce Beste is being held on charges of driving under the influence of drugs with an accident, two counts of reckless driving, speeding, failing to maintain a travel lane and obstructing a police officer.

An investigation into the crash continues, and more charges could be filed, Boulder City police Sgt. John Glenn said today.

Bail of $9,631 or the installation of a monitoring bracelet that checks for alcohol use was set as a condition for his release, according to the Boulder City Municipal Court.

The crash occurred about 6 a.m. Wednesday and closed southbound U.S. 93 for hours.

Police allege a white Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck driven by Beste was speeding south on U.S. 93 and moving in and out of its travel lane, with the tires leaving the roadway several times. A white four-door Oldsmobile Cutlass came onto U.S. 93 from a side road and was struck in the rear by the truck.

A motorcycle driven by Kentis Castro, 44, of Boulder City, was also struck, and all three vehicles hit the center guardrail, police said.

All three drivers were taken to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Beste was arrested after being released from St. Rose Dominican Hospitals-Siena Campus. He is scheduled to appear in Boulder City Municipal Court for arraignment Nov. 19.
