Bootleg Canyon’s mountain bike trail master will undergo heart surgery Wednesday after suffering a heart attack while mountain biking on Saturday.

Brent Thomson, 57, had the heart attack while riding the trails that he’s carved into the mountain since 1998.

The lifelong Boulder City resident awaits a quadruple bypass surgery at St. Rose Dominican-San Martin Campus.

Thomson said 16 years ago, he underwent a four-hour quadruple bypass, and was back on his feet in a week.

He doesn’t know how long his recovery will be this time, but said the “diagnosis looks good.”

While Thomson is in the hospital, a friend of his is maintaining the 40 miles of trails, he said.

Thomson said he should be home and resting by Monday or Tuesday next week.
