School bus driver arrested for sexual assault of minor

A Clark County School District bus driver has been arrested by North Las Vegas police in connection with lewdness with a minor and sexual assault.

The North Las Vegas Police Department received a report about 7 p.m. May 16 that a 5-year-old girl had been molested numerous times at her home, police said.

Detectives investigated and the case was submitted to the Clark County District Attorney's Office for charges.

Detectives arrested 63-year-old Richard Dean Stephen of North Las Vegas on Tuesday based on a warrant.

Officers arrested Stephen at his home in the 3100 block of Van Der Meer Street about 4 p.m. Tuesday without incident, police said.

He has been booked into the Clark County Detention Center on seven counts of lewdness with a minor under the age of 14 and three counts of sexual assault, according to detention center records.

Although Stephen drove elementary school children, the alleged victim is not a student, police said.
