Current job: Managing broker, Prudential | IPG Commercial Real Estate
Education: UNLV, Bachelor of Science in real estate
About Cassie Catania: Cassie Catania joined Prudential | IPG Commercial Real Estate in 2007 as an associate advisor and quickly ascended the corporate ladder, assuming the role of managing broker and top local executive in late 2008. She has since revamped the office, which was in a financial slump when she took the helm. Last year, Catania reduced expenses by more than 50 percent, increased profits by 10 to 15 percent and recruited new five agents, for a current total of 22 independent agents and three employees. Catania, who hopes to become both an SIOR and CCIM designee, launched her professional career on the residential side prior to focusing on commercial, which she said is based more on need and less on emotion. She recently received a scholarship from the Commercial Marketing Group to obtain a commercial real estate certification through UNLV’s Leid Institute. The second-youngest in her office, Catania developed an early interest in the industry. “When I was little, my parents owned a lot of real estate, so on Sundays when most people went to church, we’d go and tour properties,” she said. “I’ve always had a passion for real estate.”
The most important issue facing the valley: A lack of tourism, because that fuels our local economy. Also, the housing market is still in disarray.
My mentor and why: My mentor is Dana Berggren, who got me into the industry through UNLV’s Leid Institute mentorship program. She got me the job here and works for me now.
