Metro Police are investigating an overnight accident that killed a 57-year-old pedestrian when he was struck by a car while crossing East Flamingo Road west of South El Oro Street in eastern Las Vegas.

The pedestrian was identified Thursday afternoon by the Clark County Coroner's Office as James Crevelp, of Las Vegas.

Officers said the accident occurred at 12:21 a.m. while Crevelp was crossing Flamingo from the north to the south side outside of a crosswalk.

A 2004 Hyundai Elantra, driven by Kenneth Kimak, 71, Las Vegas, was traveling east on Flamingo in the right travel lane and struck Crevelp, police said.

He was transported to the Sunrise Hospital Trauma center, where he was pronounced dead by medical personnel, police said.

Kimak and his passenger, Marie Vento, 79, Las Vegas, were not injured, police said.

The death is the 29th traffic fatality this year in the Las Vegas area, police said.
