Las Vegas to hit low 90s today

Storms moving in Monday and Tuesday, forecasters say

Warmer-than-normal temperatures are moving in to Las Vegas today, topping out in the lower 90s this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

The weather service says that after a warm and dry day today, a storm system will bring increasing winds and chances for showers, thunderstorms and cooler temperatures Monday night and Tuesday.

Temperatures will quickly rebound in the middle of the week before another round of winding and cooler weather near the end of the week, forecasters said.

At 4:56 a.m. today, the temperature at McCarran International Airport was 66 degrees. The normal low for today's date is 63 degrees. The record low was 43 degrees, set in 1953.

Around the valley just before 5 a.m., temperatures were 61 degrees at North Las Vegas Airport, 65 degrees at Nellis Air Force Base and 60 degrees at Henderson Executive Airport.

Temperatures in the valley were to rise today to 76 degrees by 9 a.m., to 85 degrees by noon and reach a high of 91 degrees by 3 p.m., forecasters said. The normal high for today's date is 88 degrees and the record high was 107 degrees, set in 1937.

Temperatures are expected to drop to 89 degrees by 6 p.m., to 81 degrees by 9 p.m. and to 75 degrees by midnight, forecasters said.

Monday's morning low will be 69 degrees and Monday's high will climb to 83 degrees, they said.
