Magazine selects moving to Henderson as ‘best money move’

Moving to Henderson is a good option for retirees who want to limit what they're paying in taxes, according to the May issue of Money magazine.

The magazine lists moving to Henderson as No. 42 of the “100 best money moves you can make.”

“The housing bubble burst painfully in this desert town minutes from the Vegas Strip and the Hoover Dam,” Money says. “That means bargains for buyers.”

Money selected five cities – Fairhope, Ala.; Sioux Falls, S.D.; Austin, Texas; Lewes, Del.; and Henderson – as the best places to retire for people who don’t like to pay taxes. Nevada, Texas and South Dakota don’t have a state income tax.

Henderson previously was recognized by Money as one of the best places in the country to live and as one of the best places in the country to retire.

“I know they look at hundreds of cities across America for these rankings,” Henderson Mayor Andy Hafen said in a statement. “To be listed as one of the ‘best money moves’ in America during times like these really says a lot about how we do business.”
