Recent winds have ripped a hole in the canopy at Henderson Pavilion, forcing concerts to be canceled as officials make repairs.

The damage is estimated at about $300,000, with repairs expected to take most of the summer.

Bud Pico, manager of cultural arts and tourism for Henderson, says the pavilion's closure means the city has had to relocate dozens of concerts and other events.

Pico says the repairs could take six to seven weeks.

The city of Henderson says the Pavilion is the largest outdoor amphitheater in the state. It is described on the city's website as "a state-of-the-art venue for the visual and performing arts with a stage that can accommodate performances from soloists to full-scale Broadway productions."
