Shooting

One condominium complex maintenance worker is dead and another was injured in a shooting Friday afternoon.

The two male maintenance workers went to a residence on Krissylouise Way, inside the Village at Karen condominium complex, to fix a broken window, Metro Police said. The complex is near Vegas Valley Drive between Nellis and Lamb boulevards.

When they arrived, they saw several men at the residence and called 911 to report a possible burglary, police said. The men then left, police said.

The maintenance workers returned to their office at the complex just after noon and were near Leeann Lane when a man approached them and, without saying anything, fired several shots, police said. The gunman is believed to be one of the men the maintenance workers had seen earlier at the home on Krissylouise Way, police said.

One of the workers, a 48-year-old man, died at the scene; the other man, 43, was taken to Sunrise Hospital with a gunshot wound to his arm and is expected to survive, police said.

The identity of the man who was killed is being withheld pending positive identification and notification of his family by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.

Police described the suspect as a black man in his late teens or early 20s, between 6-foot and 6-foot-3 inches tall, weighing about 170 pounds. He was wearing a dark blue baseball cap, police said.

The gunman was last seen running toward Aarondavis Drive, police said.

Anyone with information about this crime is urged to call Metro's Homicide Section at (702) 828-3521 or Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555.
