Motorcyclist critically injured in south valley crash

Motorcycle crash

A Las Vegas man was critically injured Friday when his motorcycle struck a light pole on Silverado Ranch Boulevard east of Maryland Parkway in the southern valley.

Metro Police said David Holmberg, 28, was riding a 2003 Yamaha motorcycle westbound on Silverado Ranch Boulevard at about noon when, for unknown reasons, he lost control of the motorcycle and it struck a curb.

The impact caused the motorcycle to fall onto its right side with the rider still attached, police said. The motorcycle struck a light pole and Holmberg was separated from the vehicle, then Holmberg and the bike came to rest.

Holmberg was taken to University Medical Center with critical injuries, police said. The accident is under investigation.
