KSNV coverage of a fire that broke out at a Jack in the Box at Decatur and Washington, August 11, 2011.

Five Jack in the Box employees were treated for minor smoke inhalation after a fire that Las Vegas Fire and Rescue officials say started on the roof Thursday afternoon.

Fire department spokesman Tim Szymanski said the two-alarm fire at Jack in the Box, 800 N. Decatur Blvd. at the intersection with Washington Avenue, started while construction workers were using hot tar on the roof of the restaurant. The fire was reported at 12:32 p.m.

Szymanski said the fire spread to the attic, causing smoke to fill the restaurant. The blaze caused an estimated $1 million in damage, officials said.

Part of Decatur Boulevard was closed while 75 firefighters put the fire out. The blaze was under control in 45 minutes, Szymanski said.
