Pedestrian hit, killed by taxi in Henderson

Pedestrian hit

A 61-year-old man was hit by a taxi and killed Wednesday night in Henderson while he was crossing Sunset Road near the U.S. 95 northbound on-ramp.

Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Loy Hixson said the man was walking outside a marked crosswalk when a Deluxe Cab employee driving a Scion hit him. NHP received reports of the accident around 6:35 p.m.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The taxi driver was uninjured and was not carrying passengers, Hixson said.

Hixson said the incident is under investigation, but the pedestrian appeared to be at fault. Sunset Road will be closed from Marks Street to the U.S. 95 northbound on-ramp for investigation until around 9:30 p.m.
