Sunny skies will welcome the start of the new year in the Las Vegas Valley this week, with temperatures shooting higher than normal, according to the National Weather Service.
Today’s high will reach 67 degrees amid sunny skies and calm winds, forecasters said. By 10 a.m., temperatures had reached 56 degrees at McCarran International Airport and 58 degrees at Henderson Executive Airport.
The mild weather will continue the rest of the week as high temperatures reach 69 degrees Tuesday and Wednesday, according to the weather service. Thursday and Friday are expected to be mostly sunny with the thermometer rising to 68 and 66 degrees, respectively.
Today’s normal high is 57 degrees, and the normal low is 38 degrees, according to weather service data. The record high temperature on this date was 69 degrees, set in 1997.
