CARSON CITY -- Nevada's best-known brothel owner is endorsing Ron Paul for president.

Dennis Hof, owner of Moonlight Bunny Ranch outside of Carson City, told the Daily Caller that he made his decision after polling his workers on their favored candidates.

“We decided to go with the guy that’s more about state’s rights — and that’s Ron Paul,” he told the conservative website.

“We thought real closely about supporting [Newt] Gingrich — because he’s a cheater — and we like cheaters,” Hof added.

Though it's unlikely Hof's endorsement will have an effect, Paul already has significant support in libertarian-leaning Nevada after doing well here in 2008.

Hof told the Daily Caller that his workers were upset with President Barack Obama over his signature on a bill that allows the human consumption of horse meat. The treatment of wild horses is a key issue in parts of Nevada.

Nevada's smaller counties may, under state law, legalize prostitution. And Hof has become the face of the industry, thanks to forays into reality TV and policy debates.

He visited the Legislature last year, when Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid delivered a speech that included a call to end legal prostitution. He is also a common site in public in Northern Nevada - he was spotted a few months ago heading into Carson City's Applebee's - and he and his employees are annual entrants in the Nevada Day Parade.
