Nightlife news & notes: Henderson’s first gay bar, another year of Party Rock and more

Marquee has locked down another year of Party Rock Mondays with LMFAO performer DJ Redfoo.

Another great happy hour just joined the Las Vegas family. Bottles & Burgers by Double Helix recently opened in Tivoli Village, offering a healthy selection of wines, beers, cocktails, adult milk shakes and “winetails” for happy hour from 4 to 7 p.m. daily, all masterminded by wine director Krista Rediske. Take our advice and start with a Lucky Ray: Riesling, peach schnapps, pineapple juice and a splash of grenadine. That’s just the tip of a very large, er, helix.

Henderson has its first—and, currently, only—gay-friendly dining/bar establishment, Steelz. Owner Rick Santora changed the name from Santora’s on September 15 and gave the place a complete face-lift, including the décor, menus and overall atmosphere. “We’re hoping to expand our customer base and keep our current customers,” Santora says. Given the happy hour prices—$5 martinis, wine and food—achieving those goals shouldn’t be too tough.(Happy hours run every day from 4 to 7 p.m. and again from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m.)

Now this is a reason to celebrate the New Year. Redfoo of LMFAO, who brought a whole new level of fun to Vegas nightlife with his Party Rock Mondays DJ residency at Marquee, has re-upped his contract, guaranteeing he will continue to “party rock” the Cosmopolitan venue through 2012.

The son of Motown legend Berry Gordy, Redfoo coined the term “party rock” in his 2011 single “Party Rock Anthem.” He describes the term as “party with a rock ’n’ roll attitude,” and if you doubt him, well … you obviously haven’t seen him perform. Now you have no excuse.
