North Las Vegas Police gather in the 2100 block of Lawry Avenue, near the site of an armed standoff Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, between police and two men spotted fleeing from a pawn shop where an armed robbery had been reported.

Police responding to a robbery call at a pawn shop chased two armed men spotted fleeing the business and arrested them after a standoff, North Las Vegas Police said.

Shortly before noon, police were called to a robbery in progress at a SuperPawn on Las Vegas Boulevard, police spokeswoman Chrissie Coon said. When officers arrived at the shop, they saw two armed men get into a vehicle and flee, she said.

A pursuit led police to a home in the 2100 block of Lawry Drive, near Lake Mead Boulevard and Comstock Drive.

SWAT officers were called in and after a 1 1/2-hour standoff, the two men surrendered and were arrested, Coon said. Their names were not immediately released.

Booker Elementary School, less than a mile away, was placed on lockdown during the incident. The lockdown has since been lifted.
