A female died from multiple stab wounds on Tuesday, June 14, 2011, after being attacked on Giles Street at Windmill Road, Metro Police said.

A murder trial for a man accused of stabbing his ex-girlfriend to death last summer near Las Vegas Boulevard in the south part of the valley has been delayed until November in Clark County District Court.

Ronnie Long Jr., 24, had been scheduled to go to trial Feb. 6 in connection with the slaying and robbery of Alexandria Victoria Whitmarsh, 25, of Las Vegas, who police said was his former girlfriend.

Last week, Judge Elissa Cadish heard from Andrea Luem, Long’s attorney, who asked to withdraw because she had a conflict in the case.

At today’s hearing, Cadish confirmed the appointment of David Schieck, from the Special Public Defender’s Office, to represent Long.

Cadish set the next hearing in the case for 8:30 a.m. March 14 and set a new trial date for 10 a.m. Nov. 13.

Chief Deputy District Attorney Christopher Lalli said the trial is expected to take about two weeks.

According to police, Whitmarsh was walking with a man just before 10 p.m. June 14, 2011, on Giles Street at Windmill Lane near Las Vegas Boulevard when Long approached her.

A fight ensued and Long allegedly stabbed her multiple times before running away, police said.
