Las Vegas isn't a bad city to work in — for those with jobs, that is.

That's according to CareerBliss, an "online career community" that on Monday issued lists of the 50 Happiest and the 50 Unhappiest Cities for Work.

CareerBliss said Las Vegas ranked 40th on the happiest list with a score of 3.933 on a 5-point scale (1 being poor and 5 being good) and an average salary of $61,347.

CareerBliss said the happiest cities to work in are Miami; Worcester, Mass.; Oklahoma City; San Jose; and Oxnard, Calif.

The unhappiest city is New Haven, Conn., CareerBliss said.

The rankings were issued the same day theNevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation reported the unemployment rate in the Las Vegas area in December was 12.7 percent, up three-tenths of a percentage point from November.

The CareerBliss rankings are based on 40,000 reviews of companies by workers on factors such as their relationship with their boss and co-workers, work environment, job resources, compensation, growth opportunities, company culture, company reputation, their daily tasks and control over the work they do.
