Southwest plane makes emergency landing after leaving Las Vegas

A Southwest Airlines flight leaving Las Vegas for San Jose, Calif., made an emergency landing on Tuesday.

Flight 2433 departed McCarran International Airport at 9:10 a.m. Tuesday morning, Southwest Airlines spokesperson Michelle Agnew said.

The flight crew smelled smoke in the cabin and alerted the pilot, she said. An emergency was declared and the plane landed at Mineta San Jose International Airport, she said.

No reason was offered for the smoke smell, but there was no indication anything is wrong with the plane, which was taken out of service, Agnew said.

The plane landed at 10:35 a.m., and fire trucks were ordered to the runway, officials said.

None of the 99 passengers on board were injured, Agnew said.
