Benedetto Vitale, the SafeNest donation center director, was fired Friday after the agency received an official crime report from the North Las Vegas Police Department, SafeNest spokeswoman Lisa Chapman said in a release.

Vitale was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of attempting to pressure a woman into having sex with him. In exchange, he would sign off on her court-mandated community service hours without working them. Chapman said Vitale had been placed on paid administrative leave as North Las Vegas Police investigated the incident. After the center received an official Crime Report and Declaration of Arrest, it proceeded with his termination.

Vitale was charged with sexual coercion, forgery and open or gross lewdness while he was working for the non-profit shelter for domestic violence victims.

Chapman said his position did not involve interaction with any victims of domestic violence. He worked only with volunteers in the donation warehouse and call center.

SafeNest is still conducting an internal investigation to see if there are other alleged victims.
