Temperatures to hit 100 again today in parts of Las Vegas Valley

Forecasters: First official 100-degree day expected Thursday at McCarran

Las Vegas will make another push toward triple digit heat again today.

High temperatures in the Las Vegas Valley are expected to range from 92 degrees on the west side of the valley to around 101 on the east side, according to the National Weather Service.

Above-normal temperatures are expected to continue into Thursday, with the first 100 degree reading of the year possible at McCarran International Airport, the weather service said.

The official high at McCarran International Airport will be 99 degrees, forecasters said.

A weak ridge of high pressure will be over the area today, ahead of a low pressure system moving into the area late Thursday, they said.

The low pressure will result in breezy to windy conditions over much of the region Thursday and Friday, they said.

This morning’s low at McCarran was expected to be 72 degrees. The normal low for today's date is 66 degrees. The record low was 43 degrees, set in 1953.

Temperatures at McCarran were to rise today to 83 degrees by 9 a.m., to 93 degrees by noon and reach a high of 99 degrees by 4 p.m., forecasters said. The normal high for today's date is 89 degrees and the record high was 107 degrees, set in 1937.

Temperatures are expected to drop to 98 degrees by 6 p.m., to 92 degrees by 9 p.m. and to 85 degrees by midnight, forecasters said.

Thursday's morning low will be 74 degrees and Thursday's high will climb to 100 degrees, they said.
