Lifting weights, talking trash and introducing yourself
Las Vegas Sun sports reporters Ray Brewer and Case Keefer dish on all things Las Vegas high school football again this week. Among the debates, other than the usual picks segment, are whether it's acceptable for an NFL player to introduce his high school alma mater instead of his college.
Lee Griggs rushed for 150 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries Friday in leading the Palo Verde High football team to a 41-0 victory against host Spring Valley.
Palo Verde (4-3, 2-0 Northwest), which won for the third straight week, continued to play solid defense. They’ve surrendered just 35 points during the streak.
Ryan Beaulieu had 76 yards and a touchdown on seven carries for the Panthers, while his brother Calvin Beaulieu had 44 yards and a touchdown on four carries. Hykeem Massey also had a rushing touchdown.
In the passing game, Parker Rost completed 6-of-9 passes for 123 yards and had a 26-yard touchdown pass to Jake Ortale.
“(Ortale) is making some big plays for the offense,” Palo Verde coach Darwin Rost said.
