Las Vegas police say they're investigating the death of an inmate who had apparently injured himself a few days earlier in a suicide attempt.
Authorities say a fellow inmate at the Clark County Detention Center summoned corrections officers Friday, and told them the inmate was unconscious in a shower.
Officers and rescuers say they found the inmate suffering from an apparent suicide attempt. Authorities say they tried to revive him, and he was taken to University Medical Center in critical condition.
The inmate succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday. His identity hasn't yet been made public.
Officials say the police department's policy calls for an investigation by homicide detectives.
