Coroner: Cause of Nevada prison inmate death pending

Authorities in Las Vegas say it could take several weeks to determine why a Nevada prison inmate died at High Desert State Prison in Indian Springs.

An aide to Clark County Coroner Michael Murphy said Monday that medical examiners are awaiting the results of blood tests following an autopsy on 55-year-old David William Parks.

Nevada prison officials reported Friday that it appearsed Parks collapsed due to natural causes Wednesday in a prison dining room.

They say medical staff tried CPR, but Parks was pronounced dead at the prison infirmary.

Parks had been serving a 6-to-15 year sentence after pleading guilty in May 2010 to felony charges of attempted sexual seduction with a victim under 16 years of age.
