Second suspect arrested in shooting at Galleria at Sunset mall

Henderson Police arrested a second man today suspected in a January shooting at the parking lot of a Henderson mall.

Ellis A. Banks and Marquell D. Scott are suspected of shooting at 23-year-old Lionel Bowen, as he ran from them in the parking lot of Galleria at Sunset mall, Henderson Police spokesman Keith Paul said. Police believe the shooting stemmed from an ongoing feud between rival gang members.

Banks was arrested today, while Scott was arrested on July 24.

Detectives believed Banks and Scott saw Bowen inside the mall and chased him into the parking lot. Banks and Scott fired 12 shots, with one striking Bowen in the elbow, and the rest hitting nearby parked cars.

Police found a handgun inside Scott’s mother’s home that appeared to be a match for the shell casings found at the scene, according to forensic testing, Paul said.

Banks was arrested on counts of attempted murder, discharging a gun into an occupied vehicle and possession of a gun by a convicted felon. Scott, 28, faces the same charges.

Banks is currently held at Henderson Detention Center, while Scott is at the Clark County Detention Center.
