HESPERIA, Calif. — Authorities say an acid spill has forced the evacuation of a truck stop on the route between Los Angeles and Las Vegas.
Scott Fanus of the San Bernardino County Fire Department says 200 gallons of acid leaked from a truck in the fueling area at Pilot Truck stop in Hesperia off Interstate 15 shortly before 5 p.m. Monday.
Fanus tells the Riverside Press-Enterprise (http://bit.ly/199Nu9a) that about two hours later fire crews were transferring the remaining hydrochloric acid in the 50,000-gallon tank so it could be hauled away and the evacuation could be lifted.
There were no immediate reports of any injuries.
