Body found in Lake Mead around where Chicago man went missing two weeks ago

A body was discovered Wednesday floating in Lake Mead near where a Chicago man went missing after jumping in the lake June 20.

National Park Service volunteers found the dead man at about 8:40 a.m. near Castle Reef, and Park Rangers recovered the body, National Park Service spokeswoman Christie Vanover said. The Clark County Coroner’s Office is working to identify the body.

The body was found near where Istvan Tibor Feichtner, 35, disappeared on June 20. Witnesses said Feichtner struggled in the high waves and was not wearing a life vest.

Metro Police Search and Rescue and volunteers conducted multiple underwater and surface searches for Feichtner but had not been able to locate him.
