ATV rollover

A Bunkerville man died Sunday morning after rolling over an all-terrain vehicle several miles south of Mesquite.

Taylor Fails, 20, was driving a 2004 Yamaha Rhino ATV at 6:56 a.m. Sunday near Chapel Way and Diagonal Street, off Riverside Road, when he lost control of the vehicle while turning left, Metro Police said. Fails and a 22-year-old passenger were ejected from the ATV, with the passenger suffering minor injuries and Fails being pronounced dead at the scene, Metro said.

An account has been set up at America’s First Credit Union (AFCU) to accept donations to help offset funeral costs for Fails, the son of Nancy Fails and Mesquite Police Sgt. Tracy Fails. Donations to the Taylor Fails Charitable Account can be made at either of the two AFCU branches in Mesquite.

The death was Metro's 53rd traffic-related fatality this year. The crash remains under investigation by Metro's Accident Investigation Section.
