GULLANE, Scotland — Miguel Angel Jimenez is the leader heading to the weekend at the British Open.

The 49-year-old Spaniard shot an even-par 71 Friday for a one-stroke over a group that includes Tiger Woods.

On a day when only four players have shot in the 60s, Jimenez produced a steady round that included two birdies, two bogeys and 14 pars. He's at 3-under 139 after two days.

In addition to Woods and Johnson, the group at 140 also includes Lee Westwood, Dustin Johnson and Henrik Stenson. Angel Cabrera and first-round leader Zach Johnson are another stroke back.

Jimenez is trying to become the oldest major champion in golf history. Julius Boros was 48 when he won the PGA Championship.

Among those missing the cut: Rory McIlroy and U.S. Open champ Justin Rose.
