Former Rebel Kevin Kruger will join his father’s staff at Oklahoma as a graduate assistant this season, according to Kruger’s Twitter account.

In 2006-07, his lone season at UNLV, Kruger helped the Rebels reach the Sweet Sixteen for the first time since the 1991 team lost in the Final Four. Kevin Kruger joined the Rebels as a redshirt senior to play for his father, Lon, who had been at UNLV since 2004. Kevin Kruger previously played three seasons at Arizona State.

After graduating, Kevin Kruger has bounced around professional basketball, playing in the NBA Developmental League as well as pro leagues in Bulgaria, Italy, Belgium and Mexico. Last year he appeared in nine games for the Los Angeles D-Fenders, the Lakers’ D-League affiliate.

Lon Kruger left UNLV in 2011 to take over the Sooners program. Kevin Kruger will join the staff of a team coming off its first NCAA Tournament appearance in four seasons. Oklahoma lost to San Diego State last year in the Round of 64.
