Fire breaks out at vacant house frequented by homeless

Firefighters quickly put out a fire this morning at an unoccupied house that officials said had caught fire in the past.

Fire crews responded to the blaze about 9:53 a.m. at a boarded-up house at 5810 Missouri Ave., near Stephanie Street and Boulder Highway, Clark County Deputy Fire Chief Jon Klassen said.

The cause remains under investigation, Klassen said. No injuries were reported, he said.

The house, which had no utilities, has been frequented by homeless people, Klassen said. The house most likely will be boarded up again, he said.
