Former UNLV basketball player Patrick Savoy was arrested Wednesday evening for selling cocaine to an undercover agent, police said.

Savoy was arrested near the 3900 block of East Katie Avenue after selling 7 grams of cocaine to an undercover officer, according to a police arrest report. Savoy was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on Wednesday night and appears to have posted bail, Laura Meltzer of Metro Police said.

The investigation is ongoing, and Savoy has not yet been formally charged, she said. Meltzer said she believed Savoy was the target of an investigation that detectives have been working on for some time.

Savoy led the Rebels in scoring during the 1993-1994 season with an average of 14.7 points a game. After going undrafted in the NBA, Savoy played overseas and for a number of independent basketball leagues before retiring in 2007.
