Car crash knocks out power for hundreds in northwest valley

Power was knocked out for about 900 NV Energy customers when a car crashed into a utility pole early Thursday morning.

The accident happened about 1:30 a.m. near the intersection of Cheyenne Avenue and Rancho Drive in the northwest valley, NV Energy spokesman Mark Severts said.

Though power was restored to most customers within an hour, electricity remained out at a number of homes in the area, he said.

Power should be fully restored once a replacement pole is installed sometime in the next few hours, Severts said.

Crews are expected to be on scene until then, he said.
