Man in crash near airport died of apparent heart attack

Fatal accident

A Henderson man involved in a car wreck near McCarran International Airport on Wednesday died of an apparent heart attack, the Clark County Coroner's Office reported.

Steven Lucero, 64, was driving a 2009 Dodge Avenger west on Patrick Lane, about 300 feet west of Eastern Avenue, at 11:07 a.m. Wednesday when he swerved into the path of oncoming traffic, hit a south curb and left the roadway, Metro Police said.

The vehicle reportedly hit two trees, re-entered Patrick Lane and crossed all lanes of traffic again before striking the north curb, Metro said.

Lucero was transported to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center’s trauma center, where he was pronounced dead, police said. Two passengers in the car, a 64-year-old woman and 35-year-old man, were not injured, police said.

Lucero died of a medical episode involving cardiac arrest, the Clark County Coroner’s Office said. More information on the cause and manner of death is still pending.
