Hit and run
A driver hit a teenage boy walking on the sidewalk Tuesday afternoon before driving away and then abandoning the car about one mile away.
Metro Police officials responded to the collision about 2:50 p.m. near Tropicana Road and Jones Boulevard. A car had driven onto the sidewalk and hit the boy, before driving away, police said.
The boy was transported to University Medical Center Trauma with nonlife-threatening injuries. Police found the suspected hit-and-run vehicle abandoned about one mile away at the 5700 block of Rochelle Avenue.
Police are searching for the driver.
Police could not comment on the identity of the suspect or the car the motorist drove.
