Suspect in bomb scare at Henderson bank faces terrorism charges

A Henderson man who threatened to blow up a Boulder Highway Bank of America on Tuesday has been formally charged and could face up to 20 years in prison.

Mario R. Mari, 78, is being charged with threatening a terrorist act after walking into the bank branch, located at 1411 S. Boulder Highway, claiming he had an explosive device and engaging in a short standoff with police before surrendering, police spokesman Keith Paul said.

No explosives were found on Mari, who faces two to 20 years in prison if convicted. Mari was booked in the Henderson Detention Center Tuesday after undergoing a psychiatric evaluation at a local hospital, Paul said.
