A person was critically hurt this afternoon in a three-vehicle wreck that happened next to a group of mourners who were holding a roadside vigil for a teenager killed in the same spot over the weekend.
The pileup occurred about 5 p.m. at Blue Diamond and Cimarron roads next to a vigil memorializing Helen Liu, 14, who died in a wreck there Saturday night.
Trooper Jeremie Elliott with the Nevada Highway Patrol said it was not clear late Thursday whether the vigil was related to the wreck, which occurred on Blue Diamond’s eastbound lanes. The crash did not involve pedestrians.
A total of three people — including the one critically injured — were rushed to an area hospital after the wreck.
Officials shut down one lane in each direction, causing minor traffic slowdowns. No other information about the crash was available late Thursday.
