Outages leave nearly 1,400 valley residents without power

Updated Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013 | 8:55 p.m.

About 1,400 people were temporarily without power Thursday evening following two outages in the Las Vegas Valley.

NV Energy spokeswoman Michelle Booth said the larger outage left 1,000 residents near Maryland Parkway and Charleston Boulevard without service after an electrical pole caught fire at the intersection about 4:30 p.m.

A smaller outage left about 375 without electrical service at Interstate 15 and Sahara Avenue. It was not immediately known what caused that outage.

By 7:30 p.m., power was restored to all affected customers.
