Accident
A man who was critically hurt in a wreck late Thursday died from his injuries this morning.
Metro Police said the man had been traveling in the passenger seat of a Toyota 4Runner that was struck head-on by a Dodge Ram pickup about 9:17 p.m. at West Tropicana Avenue just east of South Duneville Street.
Witnesses told police that the pickup was heading west on Tropicana when its driver tried to switch lanes and lost control, veering toward oncoming traffic. The Dodge Ram collided head-on with the eastbound 4Runner.
Police said the road was wet from recent rain.
All of the occupants of the vehicles were injured, and they were rushed to University Medical Center. The passenger in the 4Runner died from his injuries early today.
The incident was Metro’s 97th traffic-related fatality this year.
