Woman stabbed by estranged boyfriend

A man is in police custody after allegedly stabbing a woman he had a relationship with Sunday night at an apartment complex.

Metro Police responded at about 7:20 p.m. to a domestic violence report from the victim, who told police she had an estranged relationship with the suspect, at the apartment complex at 100 N. Pecos Road, near Stewart Avenue. The woman was transported to University Medical Center Trauma with nonlife-threatening stab wounds, Metro spokeswoman Laura Meltzer said.

Police believed the suspect, identified as Nahun Rubi, 32, remained inside the apartment and treated it as a barricade situation, evacuating nearby residents for safety. But when police entered the residence, Rubi was not there, Melzter said.

Police later located and arrested the suspect in the 4800 block of East Sahara Avenue. Rubi was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on one count of attempted murder with a deadly weapon and two counts of child endangerment. Two children were present at the time of the stabbing, police said.
