A standoff Thursday between a man accused of domestic abuse and the Metro Police SWAT team ended peacefully after three hours when the man finally exited his home without incident, according to Metro Police.

Alfonso Ortiz, 29, was arrested on charges of resisting an officer with a deadly weapon, assault with a deadly weapon and domestic battery. Ortiz also had a second domestic battery charge from an outstanding warrant.

Officers responded to calls of a domestic dispute in the 4400 block of East Wyoming around 3 p.m. Thursday, Metro Police officer Larry Hadfield said.

Ortiz allegedly had a dispute with a female at the house, then the female left the home and Ortiz locked himself in the home and refused to exit. Ortiz eventually was convinced by SWAT officers to exit and was taken into custody around 6:30 p.m.

Ortiz is currently being held at the Clark County Detention Center without bail.
