Coroner IDs driver killed in truck crash, fire

The driver of a concrete mixer truck who died Tuesday after his truck overturned and caught fire was identified today as James Perkins, 64, of Las Vegas, according to Clark County Coroner’s Office officials.

Perkins was driving east on the 215 Beltway when he hit an orange construction zone barrel west of Jones Boulevard and overturned, Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Jeremie Elliott said.

The truck caught fire with Perkins inside.

Perkins was pronounced dead at the scene, Elliott said.

He died from carbon monoxide intoxication in the fire, coroner’s office officials said.
