A family of six was displaced from its home Sunday night after a fire spread from a closet under the stairs to the rest of the home.
Las Vegas Fire & Rescue responded about 10:05 p.m. at 6380 Violet Blossom Drive, near Vegas and Torrey Pines drives. A blast of high heat and smoke met the two adults and four children when they opened their front door, Las Vegas Fire & Rescue spokesman Tim Szymanski said.
The fire grew from a closet under the stairs and burned down a portion of the steps. Firefighters extinguished the flames quickly, but not before the fire caused about $150,000 in smoke and fire damage to the home, Szymanski said.
No one was injured.
Fire investigators ruled that the fire was accidental but could not identify a cause, Szymanski said.
