Car barrels into Henderson bus stop shelter, injuring one

A car barreled into a Henderson bus stop shelter this afternoon, injuring one person who was inside the enclosure.

Henderson Police spokesman Keith Paul said the driver, believed to be in his 20s, lost control of the car as he traveled on Green Valley Parkway near Warm Springs Road about 4:20 p.m.

The only person inside the enclosure, a man in his 40s, was rushed to an area hospital with injuries not considered life threatening.

Paul said the driver may not have been paying attention to the road when the wreck occurred, although it was not immediately clear if something had distracted him. Drugs and alcohol have been ruled out as possible factors. Speeding has not.

“We’re thinking it was inattention. Somehow he lost control,” Paul said. ”Exactly why will be determined (by investigators).”
