A man suspected of killing his 2-month old daughter has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder, North Las Vegas Police reported.
Joshua Chinn, 19, was arrested Sept. 12 and booked into Clark County Detention Center, where he was being held without bail.
On March 12, the child was transported to University Medical Center in critical condition with multiple internal injuries, North Las Vegas Police spokeswoman Chrissie Coon said.
Initial investigation indicated that Chinn had checked on the baby girl and found her struggling to breath, so he and family members attempted CPR and called 911, Coon said. Medical evidence later showed the child was shaken violently and had suffered a blunt force trauma the head and torso, she said.
Witnesses also reported that Chinn had acted aggressively toward the baby in the weeks leading up to her death, Coon said.
In one incident, Chinn allegedly bit the baby on her stomach and in another he slapped the girl in the face, Coon said.
