Fatal accident

A woman in a motorized wheelchair was killed on Thursday after she was struck by a vehicle on Martin Luther King Boulevard.

The unidentified woman, believed to be 78, was crossing Martin Luther King eastbound near Balzar Avenue in a marked crosswalk when she was hit by a Nissan Altima just before 4 p.m. The impact forced her off the motorized chair, police said.

The Altima’s driver, Angela Conway-Hill, 47, reportedly remained at the location. It was not immediately clear whether she would face charges in the connection with the crash.

This was the 67th traffic fatality for Metro Police.

No further details were available about the wreck late Thursday.
