Man arrested in theft of copper from veterans building, police say

A man was arrested last month after a witness reported seeing someone stealing copper from a veterans building and alerted authorities, Metro Police said.

Officers initially received a report the morning of July 26 of a theft at the U.S. Vets building in the 500 block of East Bonanza Road, near North Las Vegas Boulevard, police said. The next day, the same witness spotted the suspect in the 2400 block of East Bonanza Road and alerted police, who arrested Jason Samuel Larussa, 36, on unrelated counts, Metro officials said.

Investigators subsequently determined Larussa was involved in the copper theft, and he now faces counts of theft of scrap metal, buying, possessing or receiving stolen property and burglary, police said.
